This problem has existed for a while now.
The municipality has responded, saying the situation is due to the power outages, especially during stormy weather.
“Control circuits on the street lights are affected and that is why the lights keep burning during the day. Technicians often correct the problem, but, with the next storms, power outages will be back,” said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.
“We are also in the process of installing day and night smart switches to limit these instances from happening.
”People are requested to log complaints such as streetlight faults.” Such calls may be logged with the EMM’s call centre, on 086 054 3000.
