Atlas judokas on Commonwealth Games course

Five members of the Atlas Judo Club have qualified for the 2016 Commonwealth Games, in Port Elizabeth.

The club team includes two-times world champion Bennie van Blerk, his daughter Alicia, Vince Maree and his daughter, Candice, and Dave Curry.

They earned qualification for PE at the national trials held in KwaZulu-Natal earlier this year – which was preceded by a nationals training week.

The team had emerged as outstanding on the national rankings which earned them invitations to the training week.

Furthermore, Bennie and Alicia qualified for the upcoming games with national colours, the most prestigious award in SA judo, while the rest of the club’s members earned qualification with Judo South Africa (JSA) colours.

The games are scheduled for April 22 to 30. – @SabeloBoksburg
