This follows the adoption of a fixed-calendar system.
According to Themba Gadeba, metro spokesperson, it is therefore the responsibility of each household to familiarise itself with the refuse removal schedule in order to know the day on which refuse is to be collected.
“Residents will be receiving colour-coded refuse removal calendars that reflect the collection days for 52 weeks of the year.
“Furthermore, waste collection services will be provided on all public holidays except December 25. This will result in a consistent service all year round.”
He said calendars will also be available in due course on www.ekurhuleni.gov.za.
Residents are urged to ensure that their bins (not plastic bags) are on the sidewalk as early as 7am on the collection day.
