Woman’s body found in lake remains unidentified

Police are still trying to identify the woman whose naked body was found floating in the Boksburg Lake, on Sunday night, January 24

Investigators are still not able to confirm the identity of the woman, and they have no new developments.

She is described as a white woman, between 50 and 60 years of age and has a tattoo of leaves on her right shoulder.

Detectives said that they have, however, received crucial information from a member of the public that they are currently analysing.

It is believed this could help them make several arrests regarding the murder.

The police said as per procedure, they have checked all the dockets registered for missing persons across the city to see if anyone has reported a woman matching the description of the discovered body missing, but there have been no matches.

It is believed that she was strangled and hit with a hard object.

Police are now probing the possibility that the woman may have been killed somewhere else, and her body dumped in the lake.

Anyone with information that may help the police to identify the body and solve the case is asked to phone the investigating officer Det W/O Rudi Venter on 011 841 6870/074 886 9754.
