War on drugs in Reiger Park continues

The Reiger Park war on drugs continues to haunt alleged drug dealers operating in the area.

Acting on information supplied by concerned residents, an undercover police operation on Wednesday, October 28, managed to bust a 21-year-old Ramaphosa man for allegedly dealing in drugs.

According to the Reiger Park SAPS’s Sgt Mashudu Phathela, the man was caught red-handed selling dagga.

Police also found 45 packets of dagga in his possession and seized R152 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime.

Phathela stated that the war against drugs will continue until all drug peddlers leave the area or remain behind bars.

q Other than this bust, police officers from the station also arrested 14 suspects for drug-related crimes during the period between October 19 and 26.

This was as a result of the enhanced working relationship the police have with the community.

The following arrests were made from October 19 to 26:

Assault: 8

Possession of illegal substance (drugs): 14

Domestic violence: 6

Armed robbery: 2

Attempted murder: 1

Possession of live ammunition: 1

Fraud: 1

Dealing in liquor without a licence: 2

Drunk and driving: 1

Theft: 4

Malicious damage to property: 6

Illegal gambling: 3
