East Rand camera club enjoy some camaraderie
Boksburg Camera Club recently hosted the annual Regional Congress for East Rand Photographic Societies, which comprises of the six East Rand camera clubs.
Members on the day were treated to lectures by three photographers.
Laetitia Kenny of the Boksburg club spoke on portraiture and studio lighting, while Tony Stacey presented a lecture on Strobist photography (which involves using a off-camera flash to create a studio-like setting outdoors).
The third lecturer was Isak Pretorius, a specialist wildlife photographer who has won multiple awards, who presented an lecture on nature photography.
Pretorius recently launched a book entitled How and Where to Photograph Birds in South Africa.
Members were given an opportunity to do practical workshops with models.
An inter-club competition was also run where each club was allowed to submit 30 images.
Boksburg Camera Club walked away with the junior trophy, the senior trophy and the overall trophy.
