Reign of terror in CBD: Jet Store robbed

Armed crooks left staff at the Jet Store on Commissioner Street, Boksburg CBD, traumatised on Sunday, August 23.

This came after about ten men robbed the place in broad daylight.

They held staff, including the security personnel, at gunpoint while demanding money.

According to a spokesperson for the Boksburg SAPS Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, the robbers overpowered the victims and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

They also made off with a number of tablets worth about R50 000.

No one was injured.

Police registered a case of business robbery and they are still hunting the gang of thugs.

* On Friday, Augsut 21 at about 1.30pm, two gunmen robbed a business located on Commissioner Street of an undisclosed amount of money.

According to Lieut Ngobese, thugs assaulted the victim and threatened him with a firearm before fleeing with the money.

They are also still at large.

Boksburg police have appealed to the community to assist them in tracing the apparent gang of robbers who are terrorising businesses in the CBD.

On Monday, July 13, a group of thugs robbed the Pep clothing store branch on Commissioner Street, Boksburg CBD of R180 000 worth of goods and cash.

Late in December last year, a gang of crooks entered the Russell’s furniture store in Commissioner Street, Boksburg town, and held staff as well as customers at gunpoint, in broad daylight.

In that incident, the robbers made off with 28 cellphones and four laptops.

Pistol-whipping thugs recently robbed a Chinese-owned bottle store on Leeuwpoort Street twice in a period of four months.

A few years ago, five armed men robbed the Boxer supermarket along Leeuwpoort Street of an undisclosed amount of cash.

It is still unclear whether these robberies are committed by the same suspects, but police are still investigating.
