We have the responsibility as the people to properly run this land

We are in trouble as a nation, as a country, as a society and as people in the society.

We have lost our direction, we have traded in our moral fibre and are in free-fall.

The Rainbow Nation dream lies in shreds, not at the feet of the government but at the feet of us as a nation and of us as people. Shame on us for allowing the nation to fall so far in 21 years!

People elect the government, so it is the people who are corrupt. We the people are to blame.

We are kept divided by comments that polarize and separate us. We live in a country that has never known true democracy, always only having one dominant party.

Absolute power corrupts, we know this, so what are we going to do about it? Our new democracy is no longer new but it is no longer a child either. This child has been raised immorally, it never received the nurturing care that a balanced child needs. This does not mean that the child is going to be a bad person but intervention is needed.

The Public Protector was created by our own government yet Thuli Madonsela, is a huge thorn in the government’s side. Why? For doing her job! Madonsela is the role model we need for this adult democracy because she is influential, and gets it, so when she puts out communication, people listen.

She recently Tweeted that the world and South Africa would be a better place if they adopted the worldwide Rotary test known as the 4 Way Test of the things we think, say and do:

* Is it the truth?

* Is it fair to all concerned?

* Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

* Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Let’s take the responsibility of running this beautiful land away from the politicians and give it to the people.
