Domestic worker held at knife point, R96 000 worth of goods stolen

Thugs held a domestic worker at knife point and stole R96 000 worth of goods, during a house robbery in Plantation.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Lieutt Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, the robbery occurred at about 8.10am on Tuesday, August 18.

The domestic worker reportedly noticed that the garage door was being opened, before a gang of robbers entered the house and threatened her with a knife.

They then took her to the family’s bathroom, where they covered her face, tied her up and gagged her.

The robbers stole various items, including a PC, digital camera and jewellery.

No injuries were reported, but, according to the house owner, Ria Irle, her helper was left traumatised.

To deter further criminal attacks, Irle said she is looking into upgrading security features at her house and added that some of the stolen items are insured.

A case of house robbery was registered at the Boksburg Police Station and the investigation continues. -@FanieFLK
