This is according to Santi Steinmann, media liaison officer Netcare 911.
“Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a utility vehicle had rear-ended a motor vehicle, resulting in the driver of the utility vehicle being entrapped in his vehicle,” said Steinmann.
“The Boksburg Fire Department had to make use of specialised equipment to extricate the entrapped man, believed to be in his forties, from the vehicle.
“Upon assessment of the man, paramedics found that the man had sustained critical injuries during the crash.
“The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the critically injured to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required.
“The occupant of the motor vehicle was not injured during the crash.”
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events are still unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
