Alleged major drug supplier arrested

A Brakpan man police described as a ''major drug supplier'' was arrested in Boksburg, on June 19.

Police applauded members of the community for their anonymous tip-off, which led to the arrest of the alleged drug supplier.

The suspect was reportedly spotted dealing in drugs along Leon Ferreira Street, in broad daylight.

According to Sgt Mashudu Phathela, Reiger Park police officers rushed to the scene.

“When the suspect noticed the approaching police vehicle he jumped into his car and tried to flee towards Boksburg town,” said Phathela.

“However, the police officers managed to corner him on Commissioner Street, in the Boksburg CBD; upon searching him, they found 100 Mandrax tablets.

“He was then arrested and charged with possession of drugs.

“It is also believed that the man supplies drugs to Reiger Park drug pushers.

“We thank community members for assisting us in the fight against illegal substances in the area.”

Phathela asked concerned residents to continue to be the eyes and ears of the police, by reporting any suspicious activity.

Tip-offs can be sent to the SAPS’s Crime Line on 32211, or directly to the Reiger Park SAPS, on 011 916 7000.
