Police make fresh appeal for information to solve woman’s murder

Boksburg police have renewed their appeal for information to solve the killing of a Witfield woman, whose body was found lying in a field, on Saturday June 27.

Detectives have identified the woman as a 54-year-old Keitsimang Senye, who was staying with her employer’s family in Berton Park in Witfield, but she originally hails from Kimberly.

According to Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese from Boksburg SAPS, the woman was seen with her friends at a tavern on Saturday afternoon, June 27, before she had gone missing.

Senye failed to return home, on June 27, before her body was found the following day in the field nearby Balmoral Tavern – about 50m away from Main Reef Road.

Ngobese said that her head had been smashed, apparently with a brick (which was found on the scene).

“We are still appealing for potential witnesses to come forward. We believe there are significant witnesses who have not yet made contact with us.

“It is important to both the investigation and to Senye’s family that we find out exactly what happened to her.

“Even if you believe your information may be insignificant, anything that helps us to piece together Senye’s final movements could help us find out as to who caused her death,” said Ngobese.

It was initial believed that Senye was violently attacked and raped.

However, detectives investigating the matter stated that test results revealed there is no forensic evidence she was raped, as the police initial thought.

They are appealing for any information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators or perpetrator.

Witnesses may phone the investigating officer Det Sgt Oupa Mashego on 079 071 0001/011 841 6859. – @FanieFLK
