EMPD to investigate ‘drinking’ in police car despite apology

A woman who was photographed drinking alcohol while sitting in the driver’s seat of an Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) car apologised for her action on her Facebook page.

But EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasaso said the matter will still be investigated.

“The unit will investigate and find out whose name the car was issued in. That person will have to explain the incident and disciplinary action will follow,” said Kgasago.

Tshidi Ford, the woman in the photograph, admitted to posing in the state vehicle with alcohol.

She posted an apology on her Facebook page yesterday.

She posted the following, “My humble apologies to all. I have caused a stir by sneaking into an EMPD car while it was being washed and took pics. I’m really sorry, didn’t mean any harm.”

Ford’s images went viral on social media over the weekend. Kgasago said the matter was with the EMPD’s integrity and standard unit.
