Investigations to establish damage caused by fire

Assessments are underway to establish the exact number of the vehicles damaged or destroyed when a fire broke out at the EMPD impound lot next to the Boksburg Licensing Department on Monday evening, May 25.

This is according to Wilfred Kgasago, Chief Superintendent of the EMPD.

Therefore the current damage caused by the fire remains unknown.

Regarding legalities such as who will be held liable for the cost incurred as a result of the fire or if the vehicle owners will be reimbursed for the loss or damages to their vehicles, Kgasago said investigations first need to be conducted and finalised.

“”This is a process that will take some time before the matter of legalities, regarding claims concerning damaged vehicles, are looked at.”
