ERPM Golf Club hosts Districts Tournament
The ERPM Golf Club in Boksburg this week hosted to one of the more prestigious tournaments on the country’s golfing calendar - the 2015 South African Country Districts Tournament.
The golfing jamboree runs from Sunday, May 17 to Friday, May 22.
The tournament saw 11 provincial teams, including a local team representing Ekurhuleni, divided into two divisions, A and B, do battle.
The teams are; Boland, Border, Ekurhuleni, Mpumalanga, North-West Province, Eastern Province, Free State, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Limpopo, Northern Cape and Southern Cape.
Boland, Border, Ekurhuleni, Mpumalanga and North-West Province all competed in the A Division with the latter mentioned teams squaring up in the B Division.
Format of match-play was in foursomes in the mornings and singles in the afternoon, including 36 holes daily.
To kick-off the tournament, the president of Ekurhuleni Golf Union, Martin Saaiman, delivered heartfelt words of encouragement.
The South African Country Districts have been running since 1970.
