A number of residents have complained about the state of the road.
Resident Lizelle Kruger said: “Boksburg is filthy, I have never seen a place like this before. There is rubbish everywhere when you go into town. I haven’t been staying here for long, but it is really dirty.
Residents are also complaining about a burned house on Cason Road, which, according to de Vos, is both an eyesore and a prostitution hub.
“The ward committee has reported the illegal activities engaged in on this premises to both the police and the Ekurhuleni Metro Council, but to no avail,” he said.
“The open electrical box right in front of the same property has been fiddled with and it is clear that electricity is being stolen.
“The metro has clearly no aptitude to deal with the lawlessness going on in the city when it comes to dumping, as is evident when looking at Cason Road.”
