Wheelie bins on the way for Boksburg North residents

In a continuous effort to keep the city clean and hygienic, the Ekurhuleni Metro is extending the supply of the 240lt refuse bins to the citizens of Boksburg residing in areas north of the N17 freeway.

This is according to metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe.

“As of June 1, the metro will only collect refuse placed in these containers which display the EMM logo,” he said.

“Refuse removal officials will, therefore, no longer pick up additional refuse bags, branches or any other form of refuse placed on top of or next to the refuse bins.

“The metro has begun supplying residents in the area with the bins, free of charge, and waste removal services will be charged as per the municipal tariff schedule.”

Gadebe said residents who generate in excess of 240lt of refuse per week are encouraged to apply for additional wheelie bins at the Boksburg Waste Management Depot, on Reservoir Road, in the Boksburg East Industrial area.

Contact numbers are 011 999 6277/5446/5310.

Residents will be requested to produce a copy of the ID document belonging to the Ekurhuleni account holder and their latest utility account (rates and taxes) when bins are delivered to their residential homes between 7am and 3.30pm, on weekdays.

“In an instance where residents are unavailable during the stipulated delivery times, arrangements can be made with the Boksburg Waste Management Depot for them to be delivered on the weekend.”
