Nurses’ parking dilemma continues at hospital

It seems that nurses at the Tambo Memorial Hospital have to park on an unsafe, open space, resulting in their cars being stolen.

This come to light following a complaint from a nurse that only members of management enjoy the privileges of safe parking.

The disgruntled nurse questioned why hospital personnel have to find parking in unsafe areas, even under trees, all the while running the risk of being targeted by criminals.

Dr Anastacia Christoforou, acting chief executive officer at Tambo Memorial, said there are different parking bays available at the hospital. These include open parking in demarcated areas, garages, underground parking and carports.

Christoforou said parking in any of the bays is available to all staff and is based on the “first come-first served” principle.

She added that parking on the hospital premises is at the driver’s own risk.
