East Rand Mall ushers in new era for shopping
East Rand Mall, the shopping centre which has been a much-loved destination in the heart of Boksburg for decades, is about to become even bigger.
The extensive redevelopment plans, will enlarge East Rand Mall by a further 7 350m2, and will include a bigger and better fashion selection.
The newly revamped mall will eventually feature rooftop parking, new tiling and lighting, upgraded bathroom facilities, additional stores and much more.
Petra Foord, East Rand Mall’s general manager, is very excited about the redevelopment plans.
“I am thrilled to be part of the new era which this iconic shopping centre is entering into. This is wonderful news for our shoppers.
“Naturally, the construction will cause a bit of inconvenience, but the end result will be well worth it. We assure our shoppers that we will do everything in our powers to ensure their usual shopping habits are not compromised.
“However, we do require their understanding and patience in order for us to deliver a world class shopping experience.”
The first phase of the extension and refurbishment commenced in January 2015, and will improve just about every aspect of this well-loved mall.
New stores will complement the existing retail offering, while some existing stores will be expanded.
Most of the changes will be made in and around Entrance 4 and the food court.
Top quality tiling will be laid throughout the mall, bathroom facilities will be revamped and a convenient new walkway will be constructed between Pep and Incredible Connection, linking the parkade to the main walkway.
Shop fronts and ceilings will be upgraded, and the use of natural lighting will enhance the ambiance of the mall interior.
The extension and redevelopment is estimated to be completed in the last quarter of 2016.
