Boksburg High School proudly boasts three outstanding top matric achievers for 2014, as well as an overall pass rate of 95 per cent.

“Last year’s exams were a bit tricky, but I am proud of myself for achieving seven distinctions,” said de Franca.

Juan-Piere de Coning achieved six distinctions, in English, Afrikaans, mathematics, life orientation, accountancy and physical science.

Lethukuthula Nyoka achieved six distinctions, in English, mathematics, life orientation, computer application technology (CAT), life sciences and physical science.

“I feel ecstatic, I really didn’t think I would do this well in the final examinations,” said Nyoka.

School principal JH du Plessis said, “To be honest, I am disappointed but not surprised. I had hoped for a 99 or 100 per cent but we have to be realistic.

“The teachers worked really hard and I cannot believe that when the national pass rate dropped by four per cent, that the school’s pass rate would also drop.

“Some of the students could not complete their studies because of health issues, and many students will be asking for a re-mark.

“For those who did not do well, ABET is recommended.”
