CGA pays tribute to 2014’s top sport stars

Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) honoured its top performers this year at a glamorous awards ceremony at Emperors Palace on Saturday, November 29.

The ceremony also paid tribute to all officials and coaches who contributed to the success of the province this year.

CGA president James Moloi’s welcoming address set the tone for the night by acknowledging dignitaries who attended, including Athletics South Africa (ASA) president Aleck Skhosana and SASCOC CEO Tubby Reddy.

In his keynote address, Skhosana highlighted that with commitment of provincial sports federations, the nation will head to tremendous growth before Reddy echoed his sentiments.

The CEO paid tribute to ASA for stirring the sport in the right direction before challenging all the athletes that will be representing the country in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil to bag at least 10 medals.

A special thanks went to Ekurhuleni, Nike South Africa, Spar South Rand, USC and Octagon for their contribution towards the awards dinner.

Different media houses were also acknowledged and thanked for their continuous support in covering all the provincials and athletics programmes.
