“This has a variety of serious repercussions in the running of the metro,” says DA Clr Bruce Reid.
He says that R73-million of the repairs and maintenance budget in the Energy Department has not been spent, despite daily power outages experienced by many areas.
“The DA suspects that the unfilled job posts meant that essential tasks were ignored for weeks on end, or not done at all, while one person struggled to do the job of two or even three people.
“If the ruling party were serious about service delivery it would ensure that these posts were filled timeously so that there was limited disruption to the supply of services.
