Stand up and support ‘Enough is Enough’ launch

Residents of Reiger Park are invited to the launch of a new crime awareness campaign, called "Enough is Enough'' or ''Genoeg is Genoeg''.

This is a new initiative aimed at reducing crime and make the Reiger Park policing precinct a safer and more secure area.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 23, at 8.30am, at Clements Stadium.

It will include entertainment and talks by anti-crime organisations and government representatives.

Members of the community will also be encouraged to contribute to the fight against crime practically, by joining the existing forums, such as the CPF, and starting streets committees.

Residents will also be encouraged to be whistle-blowers against crime and to report crime at all times; to desist from creating a market for stolen goods, including not buying stolen items, and to actively get to know their neighbours.

The anti-crime campaign will cover Reiger Park, Ramaphosa, Slovo informal settlement, Delmore Park and Delmore Garden.

”Enough is Enough” will be among other several partnership initiatives underway to intensify the fight against crime in these communities. For years, Reiger Park experienced high murder, property crime and drug-related crime rates.

These include gang-related violence, domestic violence and drunken assaults, substance abuse, as well as the recent surge in child killings.
