Man decapitated by train near hospital

A man has died after being hit by a Metrorail train next to Tambo Memorial Hospital, Boksburg.

The 35-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was struck by the train at about 3pm, on Monday, July 28.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, police officers attended the scene after receiving a report that a man had been struck by a train at the railway line next to the hospital.

He was decapitated.

“Emergency services including the police were dispatched to the scene, but the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“Detectives are now working to identify the man, inform his family and establish the exact circumstances of what took place,” says Ngobese.

The train with commuters aboard was travelling from Springs to Johannesburg.

Ngobese states that although the matter is being treated as non-suspicious, investigators are now trying to determine whether the death was accidental or suicide.

The Boksburg police are also asking for public’s help to identify the body of the man only described as a coloured male.
