Date set for Bokkie Park clean up

The Advertiser recently reported on a petition campaign initiated by a Boksburg resident in an attempt to convince the community to help clean-up and restore the park.

Kym Moneron from Trinity Protection Services was the mastermind behind the idea.

Moneron started the petition in Cinderella, Parkdene, Park Rand and Sunward Park where petition forms were pinned to notice boards at shops in these areas.

Trinity Protection Services, together with the three Junior Academy branches in Boksburg, and members of the community, would like to raise money to clean-up and help upgrade the Bokkie Park.

Moneron encourages the whole community to support them by taking part in this fun community project, which will for the first time take place on Saturday, June 21, at 9am.

“We would like to help restore the Bokkie Park to its original glory and keep it that way. So once a month a group of people come in and help clean-up. For me it’s harder to ruin something you have spent blood, sweat and tears trying to look after. It was hard to see Boksburg Lake go down the drains and I want my kids to experience the things I experienced,” says Moneron.

To raise funds for the clean-up, Adel Luus from Trinity Protection Services says the company is raffling three sets of double-tickets to their Loftus Versfeld suite in Pretoria for the rugby match between the Bulls and Rebels taking place on Friday, July 11.

Raffle tickets are R10 each and forms have been distributed among the kids from the three Junior Academy branches’ parents.

The lucky draw will be on Monday, July 7, and the three winners will be notified immediately.

“All the parents and kids want to support and help with this project. We have contractors that are willing to help build, paint, restore and pave at no cost,” says Luus.

On the raffle form people are also asked to give suggestions on what they think needs to be first priority regarding improvements at the Bokkie Park.

Those wanting to help with the clean-up can bring a black bag and maybe gloves.

For those interested, raffle tickets will also be available at the clean-up.

Luus encourages any other community member working in the building industry to offer their services as their contribution.
