Donate toys to bring comfort to child rape survivors

The Wool Centre in Boksburg is appealing to the community to donate small soft toys that will be used by the Epic Foundation for children’s comfort packs.

The packs will be handed over on Friday, June 6.

“We make use of these toys to bring some comfort to these children, who are specifically rape survivors during their time of emotional and physical pain,” says Lizette Celliers from Epic Foundation.

The main objective of the Epic Foundation is the management of various projects and initiatives aimed at assisting victims of rape and abuse, which will include women in shelters.

Other ad hoc projects will also be undertaken to aid people in crisis and support other charities.

Epic distributes between 200 to 250 children’s comfort packs and 400 to 600 ladies comfort packs per month to victim empowerment centres across Gauteng region.

It is the Wool Centre’s goal to collect 200 toys.

“We have not been able to collect the number of toys we aimed for, and urge the public to bring some comfort in a child’s life who is facing a great deal of trauma,” says Celliers.

Items that are constantly on Epic’s wish-list are soft-toys, children’s underwear, facecloths and bottled water.

Donations can be delivered to the Wool Centre at Dunias Centre in Trichardts Road or contact Celliers for collections on 072 525 5306.
