Boksburg North CPF better equipped to help community

The Boksburg North CPF Sector 1 were recently allocated its Icasa CPF Radio Frequency, and also received a repeater two-way radio system.

Members will now be able to able to patrol and assist the community more effectively thanks to the new radio system which has already been installed.

“The installation of this radio system was a dream come true for the 19-member dedicated Impala Park CPF Community Patroller group,” says the CPF’s chairperson Denise Curry.

“During the past few months, these patrollers relied on two-way radios that provided a reception radius of not more than a few hundred meters.”

The group also used the WhatsApp cellphone application for communication.

“You cannot give a screwdriver to a mechanic and expect him to overall a truck engine,” she says.

Curry says the members have been working hard to make a difference and it would be a huge loss to their community to see such dedicated men lose their passion to fight crime because of not having the right tools to do their job.

With this in mind, Curry purchased the much-needed repeater radio system to help the patrollers.

Within 24 hours of the purchase, the patrollers assisted in the arrest of three men on the N12 highway who were trying to get away with stolen goods worth a R100 000 from a house break-in that occurred in Impala Park.
