Newborn babies welcomed on New Year’s Day
While many were celebrating the New Year with fireworks, singing, screaming and partying, a few mothers were welcoming both the New Year and their newborn babies on the same day.
Baby Caroline Mafatshe was born at exactly five minutes into the New Year (12:05am) at the Tambo Memorial Hospital.
She was later joined by six more new born babies during the day.
At Sunward Park Hospital, baby Ruan Raymond Pittie is the only New Year baby they welcomed on the day.
He was born at 1:50pm, weighing 3.16 kg.
