Cardinals perform well in league

All teams that played their league games on January 29 displayed good performances.

Boksburg Cardinals U12’s first side beat Chiefs 15-3 in their league match on home soil on January 29.

In another league match played on the same day, the U12 second team drew with Giants Imps. The U10 Cardinals were thrashed 23-6 by their arch-rivals, Benoni Indians Cherokee.

Cardinals U12 first-team coach Wozzel Botha said he is pleased with the overall performance of his team.

“My team batted very well and grabbed a few home runs because of that. We placed players that are not usually pitching as our pitchers and they did a great job.

“We have a good momentum at the moment and are feeling confident about our next game against Giants Imps,” said Botha.

Second-team coach Hayden Sampson said his team ‘with honour’ took the draw against Giants Imps.
“It was our first league game as a team and great to see the players play together and motivate each other to do their best.

“Our next game is against one of Benoni’s teams, which is tough opposition, but it won’t stop us from doing our best to achieve the win. We are determined to do well in the league.”
