New boss for Reiger Park SAPS

People don't need to make appointments to see him.

The new station commander of Reiger Park SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Bongani Dube, who took office on November 29, said he identified problematic crimes in Reiger Park and ways to tackle these.

“The major crimes in the area are drug dealing, illegal shebeens, cable theft and murder. I am taking a ‘no-nonsense’ stance on these and all other crimes.

“We aim to get criminals such as drug dealers and murderers off the streets, close illegal shebeens and put an end to cable theft. To achieve this, we need the help and support of the community,” Dube said.

“My door is always open to the public as I want to work with them to restore law and order in Reiger Park. I’m here to serve the community.”

One of his first tasks, Dube added, is to strengthen the station’s informer network.

“This is very important in initiating intelligence-driven operations, which we will carry out with the assistance of various other policing units to effectively fight crime,” he said.

Before joining Reiger Park SAPS, Dube was the Vispol (visible policing) commander at Thokoza Police Station.

“I joined the SAPS in 1995 as a constable at the Thokoza Police Station and was then promoted to sergeant in 2001. Thereafter, I was promoted to inspector and moved to Brakpan Police Station in 2005.

“My promotion to warrant officer came in 2009 and I went back to serve at the Thokoza SAPS as a crime officer commander.

“In 2016, I was promoted to captain and worked as a support commander,” he explained.

He added that in 2020, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and continued working at Thokoza SAPS as a visible policing commander.

According to Dube, former Reiger Park station commander Lieutenant Colonel Eugene Roets is now with Brakpan SAPS.
