The Dawn Park police is keen on fighting crime this upcoming festive season.

A Dawn Park police officer on duty at 06:30 on November 25 stopped a suspicious car on the corner of Flanagan Road and the R103.

Upon searching the vehicle, he found a crowbar, spanner, hammer and chain. The two occupants were arrested when they could not offer a valid reason for carrying the tools.

Later that day, at around 10:30, another officer saw a motorist driving recklessly in the Mapleton area and stopped the vehicle on the corner of R103 and Pelser Road. The suspect was taken for a blood alcohol level test and then arrested for driving under the influence.

In another incident, an officer saw a man in a wheelchair exit a store at Dawn Park Mall using the entrance door and he became suspicious.

He stopped and searched the suspect and discovered he was hiding a packet of meat. The officer asked the suspect to produce a receipt for the meat, but he couldn’t and was arrested for theft.
