Crime round up from Boksburg North SAPS

The following cases were recently opened the Boksburg North SAPS (supplied by spokesperson Sergeant Justice Ramaube):

Robbery

• Ten robbers attempted to rob Digi Game World in Bartlett on November 5.

The armed men entered the store and pointed a firearm at a customer.

However, the customer managed to escape.

The robbers then produced a crowbar and tried to open a door to get behind the counter. They failed and fled in a white VW Polo and a white Mercedes Benz. They did not manage to take anything from the store.
Police are investigating a case of business robbery.

• Two robbers made off with a 34-year-old man’s belongings while he was walking on Rondebult Road to the N12 bridge on November 6.

One robber was armed with a firearm and another with a knife.

They stole the victim’s bag, two cell phones, cash and toiletries worth over R15 000.

Police are investigating a case of armed robbery.

• A woman was robbed of her handbag on the corner of Rietfontein and Paul Smit roads on October 5.

The woman was walking along the road when a man pushed her from behind. He threatened her with an object that she could not identify and grabbed her handbag.

The handbag contained a cellphone and cosmetics.

Rape
• A man was raped during a night out at a popular nightclub on November 5 after his drink was allegedly spiked.

The man said he had a few drinks with his friend and woke up the next morning in the caravan he lives in, with a sore arm without knowing how he got there.

He phoned his friend who said he had taken him home after he had passed out.

The man said he left his drink unattended at the club when he went to the bathroom and suspected it was spiked.

Arrests
• A 29-year-old woman was arrested for stabbing a woman with a beer bottle at the Boksburg North Hotel on November 3.

According to Ramaube, the victim was sitting with female friends at the bar when the woman joined them. This woman suddenly pushed her and stabbed her twice with a beer bottle.

The woman was arrested for assault and will appear in court soon.

• A man was arrested in Second Street on November 6 for assaulting his wife.

Ramaube explained police responded to a domestic violence complaint.

On arrival, the wife told police that she was assaulted by her husband but did not want to open a case.

The husband then again assaulted her in front of the police officers and was arrested.
