Brothers defeat their opponents in separate boxing matches

They are both determined to be best boxers.

Siblings Tristan (23) and Cayden Truter (21) proved to be powerful when they conquered their opponents in separate boxing matches recently.

Tristan defeated the MMA fighter/boxer Chris Bobo with a TKO (RTD) on the fourth round, during the Boxing 5 Promotions match held by Larry Wainstein at the Booysens Boxing Club, in Johannesburg on October 2 and his younger brother Cayden defeated Nkululeko Mdletshe with a TKO in the ESPN Africa 21 Junior lightweight fight on September 22.

Tristan told the Advertiser that he won the fight because he focused on improving his fighting style rather than changing it during his training sessions.

“My plan was to apply pressure on my opponent from the beginning of the match. I indeed did that from the onset of the match and my plan was fruitful, because the referee took a technical decision to stop the match on the fourth round and announce me as the winner,” he said.

He said that the referee took that decision because Chris kept on grabbing and punching him behind his head throughout the match.

“The referee warned him on several occasions throughout the match to stop holding and punching me behind my head, but he couldn’t stop it, because I was aggressive on him. I made sure he feels my presence in the boxing ring.”

Cayden, on the hand, who currently sits on a record of winning six boxing fights without any losses, said he is happy that he won his fight against Nkululeko, because if he hadn’t won the match all his hard training would be for nothing.

“My opponent was tough, but I dominated every round and in the sixth round his technical team threw the towel in the ring.

“I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t expect to win like that because Nkululeko is a good fighter. I had a good game plan going into the fight and I think that’s one of the reasons I won the match.”

He said he believes that a good fighter should have a game plan going into any fight and be able to change it if it’s not working, and most importantly listen to his technical team, and that’s what he did during the fight.

“I ventured into the sport seven years ago and I was inspired by my father to be a boxer. I don’t regret joining the sport because it has taught me how to be disciplined.

“The announcement of our next fights will be made after I have discussed the fights with my team and the announcement will not only be for me, but for the Truter brothers. Great things are on the way,” said Cayden.
