Angels help Vernon Koekemoer

According to Coetzee, Booyse's condition slightly improved since he was admitted at the Tambo Memorial Hospital on September 17.

Angels from across the globe have come to the rescue of Cassie Booyse, better known as Vernon Koekemoer.

On Jacaranda FM’s Breakfast with Martin Bester’s Good Morning Angels, an amount of R30 000 was donated to help Vernon with his medical condition.

Good Morning Angels is also in contact with a specialist who will examine Cassie for free and do tests to determine the extent of his problem and treatment.

Furthermore, TikTok star and businessman Malcolm Wentzel also contributed R20 000 to Booyse on behalf of the FKN Army, a social media movement founded to empower the needy.

A group of South Africans living in the Netherlands also donated R15 000.

Booyse received even more good news the following day from Nando’s that sponsored R87 000.

The 66-year-old Witfield resident was admitted to Tambo Memorial Hospital more than a week ago.

Koekemoer, who became an overnight sensation after he was photographed at a music festival in Boksburg in 2008, is in immense pain after failed hip operations. His partner, Linda Coetzee, blames a doctor at the hospital who, according to her, admitted that he put in the wrong prosthesis in the first operation three years ago.

Coetzee explained he is on antibiotics and receiving treatment to help improve his blood circulation.

She pointed out they are awaiting a bed at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for Booyse to go under the knife again.

According to her, doctors must remove the prosthesis, treat the infection and clean the wound. She added the doctor was suspended for 60 days but is now back at the hospital.

Hospital CEO Zenzo Ndabula confirmed Booyse is admitted for treatment and is undergoing tests. “The hospital does not comment on disciplinary processes against staff,” he said.

Coetzee expressed her gratitude to everybody who assisted Booyse

“Words cannot describe how much it means to us. I would also like to thank Global Roofing Solutions’ Jacques Roux (national quality manager), Gert Dercksen and all my colleagues for all their support.”
