Operation Okea Molao combats crime in Dawn Park

The police were stopping and searching every vehicle travelling on the Barry Marais Road.

A drunk driver, 33 undocumented immigrants and a suspected drug dealer were arrested during the latest Ekurhuleni district Operation Okae Molao.

It was led by the Dawn Park and Vosloorus police and the EMPD, in Barry Marais Road, Dawn Park, on September 29.

According to the Ekurhuleni deputy district SAPS commissioner, Brigadier Lebohang Machakela, they also closed two taverns and issued 25 fines to the value of R30 600 during the operation.

“Officers also searched 202 people and 155 vehicles. The arrests made are an indication that Okae Molao continues to yield good results.

“Our intention with these operations is to keep communities safe and ensure that lawlessness doesn’t prevail.
“These weekly operations do not only take place in Ekurhuleni but throughout Gauteng. For example, today we are in Dawn Park and our Ekurhuleni district commissioner Anna Sithole is at an Okae Molao operation in Devon.

“Our focus in Dawn Park today is checking for legal documentation, suspects in serious crimes and closing illegal shebeens that are contributing to an increase in murders and burglaries in the area,” said Machakela

Police officers, Ekupholeni Victim Empowerment and the CPF handed out awareness pamphlets at the operation.
