Local beauty queen Miss East Rand
As Miss East Rand, she would like to make it her duty to serve her community.
Boksburg South’s Angel Aurorah Pieterse is standing proud after she recently brought home the Miss East Rand 2022 crown.
The 21-year-old student said she feels honoured about her achievement and will not take the title lightly.
“To be honest, taking the title was the least of my expectations. When I entered the competition, I remember telling myself that I’m here to learn and build my confidence. At some point in the competition I wanted to give up, but I was reminded that I’m stronger than that,“ she explained.
Her secret to success was remaining humble and continuously serving communities without a spotlight shining on her.
“My aim as Miss East Rand is to not only inspire and uplift young girls but young boys as well. I would like to put a message out that it doesn’t matter how blurry your life may seem, achieving your dreams are still possible,” she highlighted.
“I want to make a difference in our youth and encourage them that we don’t have to wait for tomorrow to make a difference as we can do it today.
“I remember when I entered the competition I didn’t believe in myself. My self-confidence on a scale of 10 was probably at a four, but throughout the competition, I started building up my confidence and my character became stronger. The reason I entered the competition was to get the message out that it might look impossible but it’s only impossible until it’s possible,” she said.
The beauty queen has been modelling since the age of nine.
“Being in front of the camera was always my favourite thing to do. I used to do photoshoots at least twice a month and ever since I’ve had a passion for modelling.”
She expressed her gratitude to her family and friends, colleagues and a special person for their support.
“Also, thank you to the founder of the pageant, Nonhlanhla Dalasile, for entrusting me and allowing me this opportunity. Lastly, I would like to thank God for His grace, mercy and favour upon my life.”
