Purchase your Tope (Tube of Hope) and celebrate Sunflower Day.

Tope is available for as little as R30 at Pick n Pay stores and selected ICPA pharmacies, as well as online at Zando.

DKMS Africa (formerly known as the Sunflower Fund) will once again launch their annual Sunflower Day campaign on September 16 in order to raise funds and awareness for those suffering from blood disorders and cancer.

This special day is usually commemorated by the sale of the Tube of Hope (Tope), and this year is no exception, with Topes available now for as little as R30 from Pick n Pay stores, selected ICPA pharmacies and online at Zando.

The Tope is available in six eye-catching unisex colors, including blue, green, yellow, pink, red and black.

The proceeds from the sale of the versatile Tope – the headband, mask, scarf, cap, or armband – go towards the recruitment of blood stem cell (bone marrow) donors, as well as a patient support fund which assists patients who require financial assistance in receiving a transplant.

Become a donor
Registering to donate blood stem cells is painless and involves three DNA swabs collected from the inside of the mouth and cheeks, and can be done from the comfort of a potential donor’s home.

If a candidate is a match, they will be contacted to donate. The procedure is non-invasive and painless and does not require an operation, anesthetic or incision. Anyone interested in becoming a donor (between the ages of 18-55 and in general good health) is encouraged to register.

For more information and to register, visit dkms-africa.org, or call 0800 12 10 82.
