Accident brings N17 to a stand-still

The accident, involving two vehicles, reportedly occurred just after 15:00.

The accident scene on the N17 highway, on August 21.

Traffic on the N17 highway came to a stand-still, on August 21 following a serious accident, near the Trichardts Road bridge, Sunward Park.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the vehicles caught fire and came to a stand-still on the side of the highway, near the bridge, resulting in the grass catching fire.
Members of Ekurhuleni DEMS were on scene to extinguish the blaze as well as to contain the resulting veld fire which led to poor visibility.

The Advertiser sought comment from DEMS and it will be added once received.
