#Comrades Marathon: Qhubeka AC novices are excited about the Comrades Marathon

A number of 41 runners from Qhubeka Athletics Club will participate in the Comrades Marathon.

Novices of Qhubeka Athletics Club are delighted to take part in the down run annual Comrades Marathon on August 28.

The ultra-marathon will be the 95th event after it was cancelled due to Covid-19 for the past two years.

First-time runner Kshira Juggoo said she is nervous about her first down run, but the support and training programmes offered by the club will help her conquer the Comrades Marathon.

“It’s truly an honour to be able to run the ultimate human race along with over 15 000 people. Find a training programme that suits you and be consistent with your training. You never know what you are capable of until you try it.” said Juggoo.

Rikkie Seeburon said his Comrades Marathon means a lot to him as it has been a journey of commitment and dedication, especially coming from a neighbourhood where people are not into running marathons.

According to the coach and chairperson of Qhubeka AC, Benzi Tenza, the club is looking forward to the marathon as they have been waiting for this moment for a long time.

“We wish all the comrades from first runners and everyone who has run before the best. Represent us well and showcase your talent to the whole world,” said Tenza.
