Residents share their thoughts on waste removal delays

The refuse removal debacle continues across Ekurhuleni.

Your thoughts as a ratepayer about this non-service:

Koena Mpati (Windmill Park): I’m up to date with rates and taxes. It is frustrating to see your dustbin not collected, which attracts files and rodents. We hope this is resolved soon because we are paying for services we are not getting.
Charlene du Toit (Parkrand): It’s a struggle because you never know when they’ll arrive and we have to make plans to remove refuse ourselves. It’s not a pleasant sight or smell. It is also a major issue for the elderly, who are unable to take their own garbage away. We are paying rates and taxes.
Lebo Lekgau (Vosloorus): We are in a serious crisis. We are frustrated and living beneath foul-smelling garbage waiting to be picked up. Despite paying rates and taxes our needs are still not being met.
Chantelle van der Nest (Bardene): It is a nightmare, and although complaints have been logged, I haven’t noticed any improvement.
Shanon van Vyk (Van Dyk Park): While it is clear that we must pay rates, doing so also prevents us from receiving the quality of service we are entitled to. Eventually they don’t pick your bins up at all, especially if they’re too heavy.
