DEMS firefigters rake in the medals in competition

The firefighters competed against other metros.

Firefighters from the City of Ekurhuleni’s DEMS took part in the Dräger Fire Combat and Rescue Challenge 2022 on July 28 in Woodmead.

The challenge is hosted by Dräger in association with SA Emergency Care (SAEC) and is sponsored by Ram Couriers.

The purpose of the challenge was that firefighting teams test and promote their skills and fitness while, learning and experiencing the latest firefighting equipment and technology on the market.

Ekurhuleni entered two teams consisting of five firefighters each. They competed against other emergency services from metros across the country.

Ennie Manzini won a gold medal in individual and team fire combat and rescue challenge in the women over 40 category.

Abel Ramavhunga achieved a gold medal in the individual fire combat and rescue challenge for men 45 to 49 years category and Terrence Marosa won the silver medal.

Divisional head of emergency services Mhlengi Makhubalo and Leon Ferreira station manager James Masuku congratulated the team.
