Boksburg FC beats Bedfordview 3-0

Boksburg FC could have won the match with more goals if it capitalised all its scoring opportunities.

Boksburg FC U10 beat Bedfordview 3-0 during the Easterns Local Football Association League Two match at the Bedfordview Sports Complex on July 9.

Boksburg kicked off the match by exacting pressure on the home side. The pressure almost yielded positive results during the early moments of the match as Lethabo Sekobane, a striker of Boksburg, pulled out a long-range shot that went over the goal post.

Sekobane seemed hungry for goals as he struck another thunderous shot in the 20th minute. His shot didn’t cause any problems for the home side’s goalkeeper, as it went wide this time around.

The home side wasn’t daunted by the pressure but retaliated through a good passage of play that saw passes that unlocked the defence of Boksburg. Midfielder Joel Chibvongdze couldn’t convert a clear-cut chance.

The visiting side continued to mount pressure, but its strikers were left frustrated. This is until Sekobane seized the opportunity in the dying stages of the first half and scored a goal.

Bedfordview attacked in the early minutes of the second half, but Boksburg turned the tables and returned to its dominating stance.

Sekobane tested the goal of the home side with another shot, but the shot was saved.

Sekobane wasn’t discouraged and increased the tally to 2-0 in the 70th minute. The opportunity was created by a good interchange of play by his teammates. Hlompho Snymes sealed the deal with the third goal.

The coach of Boksburg, Mthokozisi Magadlela, said they had endured a rough spell. They lost their last two games.

“We lost those games because they were a lot of things happening to our team behind the scenes, but I’m happy that we regained our momentum. Before we hit the bump in the road we won 10 matches in a row.

“I’m happy that we won today. We are now looking forward to our next match,” said Magadlela.
