What has become of our once prosperous Boksburg CBD?

Shaun Carter, a concerned resident of Boksburg, writes:

Since I have been living in Boksburg for the past nine years, I have noticed that the central business district has become a disgrace.

Unlicensed hawkers just set up business anywhere along the pavements, making it difficult for the pedestrians to walk.
What is the metro doing about our once beautiful Boksburg CBD with its historical buildings? The answer is nothing.

Many of these buildings that are over 100 years old are bought by landlords who house anyone who can pay rent. They forget that these buildings are and have been ruined in the process.
It is so sad to realise that our government, elected by us the citizens, are doing nothing to prevent the Boksburg CBD from becoming a slum. Where are the clean-up committees, and where is the councillor when he should be ensuring that the metro staff do their work?

Why are the potholes never fixed? Why is the councillor not updating residents, either through the media or a press statement, when the power goes out due to stolen cables or a faulty network?
We are very disappointed in our leadership and if nothing is done about these problems, the CBD will become a drug-fuelled slum.
Enough is enough. Fix the problems or resign so that a more competent group of individuals can try to restore the CBD to its former glory.
