St Dominic’s hockey team do well in tournament

The tournament was hosted at the Randburg Astro Turf facilities.

St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls first team became runners up at the Inter Catholic Hockey Tournament recently.

The U15s also played in the tournament and they managed to win it. Coach Colin Sandwell said the performance put in by the girls really showed both character and development.

“The conditions were cold and tough but we are very happy with the results. The girls put in some hard work and their dedication proved in the field of play,” said Sandwell.

Captain of the first team Bridget Zekov said the results brought much pride.

Here are the results of the first team:
• St Dominic’s 5 – 0 CBC Pretoria.
• St Dominic’s 2 – 0 De La Salle Holy Cross.
• St Dominic’s 3 – 0 Holy Rosary.
• St Dominic’s 0 – 1 Brescia House.

Katerina Jardim, captain of U15 team, said all the late practices and hard work proved anything they set their minds to can be achieved.

“We played like superstars and deserve to win. I’m proud to be part of such an amazing team,” said Jardim.

The results of the U15 team are as follows:
• St Dominic’s 1 – 0 CBC Pretoria.
• St Dominic’s 6 – 0 De La Salle Holy Cross.
• St Dominic’s 1- 0 CBC Pretoria.
• St Dominic’s 2 – 0 St Teresa’s.
• St Dominic’s 3- 0 Assumption Convent.
• St Dominic’s 1 – 0 Holy Rosary.
• St Dominic’s 0 – 0 Brescia House.
