Tambo Memorial Hospital recognises long-serving nurses
Certificates of recognition were given to nurses who have been at the hospital for 20 and 30 years.
In celebration of Nurses Day, Nurses Forum at Tambo Memorial Hospital held a Long Service Award ceremony in recognition long-serving of nurses on May 19.
Chairperson of the forum, Matron Lolo Dibakoane said nurses excel in their role on day to day basis.
“Integrity and teamwork are some of our qualities. Accountability, adaptability, flexibility, paying attention to details, emotional intelligence and time management are also some of the critical qualities a professional nurse should have,” said the matron.
During the award ceremony, CEO of the hospital, Zenzo Ndabula mentioned that the nurses should be proud of themselves as they were chosen among over 100 candidates when they applied.
“These nurses have been serving the hospital for a long time now and I am very proud today because it shows that they are passionate about their work and it is their calling to serve the community.
“Never in a single day have I received a complaint about them not doing their work or sleeping on the job. They volunteer to help to go an extra mile,” said Ndabula.
The CEO said he appreciates the fact that the nurses are the ambassadors of the Memorial Hospital.
Dibakoane said long-serving nurses did not allow Covid-19 to threaten their lives.
“Big ups to the nurses. Despite the challenges, they wake up and serve the patients of the hospital. We appreciate the loyalty these nurses have for the hospital and to those who didn’t receive the certificates today, they must work hard in bringing up their A-game,” said Dibakoane.
