Solid win for Boksburg against Northerns

This is the third league match for Boksburg Rugby Club.

Boksburg Rugby Club pulled out a stunning attacking performance to beat Benoni Northerns 32-15 in a league match at Prince George Park Stadium, on May 7.

Boksburg Rugby Club showed dominance from the onset of the match and relentlessly mounted pressure on the visiting side Benoni Northerns, the visiting side succumbed to the pressure and the Owls punished the away side with a try by Graig Hutchison, they instantly led the match 5-0. However Benoni Northerns equalised through a try and both teams were equal on points.

 The home side was not daunted by the equaliser and Keenan Oelofse of the home side secured a try and Henry Pike converted. They increased the points of the home side to 12-5.

Before the half time whistle Stefan van Zyl scored a penalty and the home side led the game 15-5.

Just a few minutes into the second half, the Owls increased their tally through Warren Britz’ try and Pike converted to take the score to 22-5. Shaun Redgard never disappointed he also secured a try and Pike converted, and the home team led the match 29-5 points.

Thereafter Benoni Northerns player Morne Laubschagne secured a try for the away team and increased the points of the away team to 29-10 points. Benoni Northerns scored another try taking the score to 29-15 points. They seemed to be closing the score gap, but it was futile as the home team continued dictating the match.

Pike increased the tally of the home side to 32 points with a drop goal, increasing the score to 32-15 points.
