Attempted car theft prevented
Police are searching for three suspects who attempted to steal a company vehicle in Boksburg South on April 26.

The driver of the Nissan NP200 bakkie prevented the theft of his employer’s vehicle parked outside his home on Konig Road. He parked the vehicle at about 18:00 outside the yard before going inside his home. When he went out about an hour later, he noticed three men and a silver Datsun next to the bakkie.

When the men noticed that he was approaching them, they sped off in the Datsun. Upon further inspection, the man noticed that the driver’s side door was forced open. The thieves tampered with the ignition and the damaged wires were hanging from the steering column.

Stolen vehicles
• A Brakpan man had his Nissan NP 200 stolen from Voortrekker Road, Boksburg East on April 29. The victim reported to the police that he parked the vehicle at about 10:00, but the vehicle was stolen when he returned to the spot about three hours later.

• In the same area, Voortrekker Road, Boksburg East, a Pretoria man’s Toyota Corolla was stolen on April 29. The victim parked his car at about 11:30 next to the NG Kerk, and upon his return to about two hours later, the car was gone.

• Sill, on Voortrekker Road, a man had his vehicle hijacked by armed criminals on May 3. The victim told the police that two men threatened him with a gun before driving away with his vehicle. They left him stranded on the scene.

• A congregant of Word of Life Church in Sunward Park was also recently left stranded after thieves have stolen her car, a golden Toyota Etios, from the church parking lot. She parked her car to go to prayer service inside the church but found it was not there upon her return.

Freeway Park family locked in bathroom during a home invasion
A Freeway Park couple was held hostage in their home in Brabant Road. The men left with goods worth thousands of rand.

This encounter unfolded at about 18:30 on April 29. The family was home when a gunman entered the house through an unlocked door. He threatened the man and his wife with a gun. The two were held hostage in one of the rooms for about an hour before being locked in the bathroom.

While in the bathroom, the couple heard a loud commotion and footsteps, suggesting that more intruders had entered the house. The couple broke the bathroom door after the criminals had left and found that the intruders have ransacked the house.
Goods stolen included two TV sets, four cellphones, three laptops, jewellery, tools and clothing. A case of house robbery is being investigated by the Boksburg police.

• Also in Freeway Park, thieves forced their way into a residential property sometime during the night between April 30 and May 1 on Ore Road to steal two bicycles and shoes from the garage. This happened while the homeowner was asleep at the same property.

• In Cason, thieves entered a property on Champion Street on April 26 to steal goods worth thousands of rand. According to the police report, the victim woke up just after 03:00 noticing people carrying torches roaming around the yard.
He called the armed security, but when they arrived the suspect had already run away. Upon further investigation, it was found that the intruders had cut the burglar bars from the storeroom to steal a lawnmower, boxes of tiles, paint, bags of cement, electric cables and other items.
