Pure Stars needs sports equipment

"My aim is to give aspiring players a chance to be professional players."

Pure Stars Sports Development, based at Vosloorus Stadium, needs donations of sports equipment.

Founder of the team Tshidiso Mofokeng said he formed his soccer team in 2018 with the aim of developing aspiring players and giving them a chance to play professional football.

“We need soccer kits, balls, nets and training cones. Anyone who wants to fund our team is welcome. My team comprises 80 players and is made up of u-13, u-15 and u-17 divisions.

“I’m passionate about soccer and my first love is coaching.

“My coaching career began in 1999 and during that time, I coached a team called Junior Stars. I was then recruited to coach the Moroka Swallows development side in 2008; I went on to win the VW Junior Masters Tournament while coaching the team.

“I left Moroka Swallows because of personal issues. At that time, I completely stayed out of the soccer fraternity and after a while returned and joined Hype Academy in Katlehong, but things didn’t turn out well there and that’s when I decided to form my own team.

As a coach, I developed a lot of players who are playing professional football. Tsebo Tsotetsi, who plays for Pretoria Callies FC, and Mxolisi Macuphu, who plays for Royal AM FC, are on the list of players I developed,” said Mofokeng.

He said he takes a personal interest in the schoolwork of his players. Any player who is not doing well at school is not allowed in his training sessions until he does well at school. He added he is training two coaches in his team, Thabo Moleko and Nkululeko Sibisi.

Any person who wants to help out the team can call Tshidiso Mofokeng on 061 604 0960, Maletsatsi Mokgathi on 060 486 3176 and Thabo Moleko on 082 067 6217.
