Winter Wool Drive time again

The Advertiser started its annual Winter Wool Drive on a high note this year thanks to a generous donation by the 94-year-old Daphne Braaf.

The Dayanglen resident continues to knit items, such as beanies and snoods, for donation to the less fortunate.

She donated a total of 100 items to the Advertiser recently.

Daphne’s children, Noleen and Mike, are also avid knitters.

“My mother is such an inspiration to us,” said Noleen.

The Advertiser thanked Braaf for her continued support of the Winter Wool Drive.

Elize Kluyts and Carlene du Toit from the Boksburg Advertiser.

All donations of wool and knitting needles will go to old age homes and other community members interested in knitting squares, which can be sewn into blankets or who want to knit beanies, gloves and scarves for distribution to those in need this winter.

Organisations with social knitting circles who would like to knit squares or anyone wanting more information can email project coordinator Elize Kluyts at elizek@caxton.co.za
