Recovery home in need of donations, sponsors

"We don't fight drug dealers we only help men that want to quit drugs."

Victory Outreach men’s recovery home in Reiger Park needs donations of food and toiletries, as well as help with transport, an additional house and funds.

The recovery home has been rehabilitating drug addicts and fighting gangsterism in Reiger Park since 2017.

This has been made possible through donations from businesses and individuals, fund-raising drives and church offerings from its main body, Victory Outreach Church East Rand, and now the organisation needs stable donors.

The director of the home, Daniel Melk, said they are struggling to provide all the necessities for the recovering addicts they have taken in.

“We have recovering addicts without families, hence we need regular donors to enable us to provide for those in our care and equip them with the skills to survive beyond the home. “Some of the recovering addicts do not have any formal education or skills, and we would like to change that.

“We had to close a recovery home for women because we lacked funds and resources, but we are planning to reopen it if we find a long-term sponsor.

“Our community members are helping us, but it is not enough. Our recovery home plays a pivotal role in the area in the fight against gangsterism and drug abuse.

“Our main aim is to help even more people, but we can’t do it without the resources,” said Melk. He added there are several businesses in Reiger Park that help them, and they appreciate their support because they wouldn’t have survived this long without this type of help.

Anyone who can donate or assist Victory Outreach in any way can call Melk on 074 439 2844.
